Perfumer: Enrico Buccella
A tribute to an icon and its amber-scented world – amber, ambar, alambre, ambra, ambrum, ambarum, Alambar. Built around a spiced cinnamon and honeyed vanilla heart of sublime quality, subtle tones have been amplified. Shimmering and slightly peppered bergamot reveals the full spectrum of the amber’s gourmand, floral, leathery and spicy notes. Its woody character is reinforced by addictive cocoa and the enveloping layers bring a warm mystical aura.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Alambar suits an evening when conversation slows and people sit closer. Cinnamon and cocoa suggest warmth against a dark knit, while the enveloping amber gives the wearer a sensual presence that feels deliberate rather than brisk or casual.
How to wear
Cool weather is a natural setting for this dense amber, allowing its cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa warmth to feel enveloping. Start with one or two sprays on skin beneath clothing for a more contained effect; use a lighter application in warm rooms, where the sweet, spiced character may feel fuller.
Who it’s for
For lovers of substantial amber fragrances who enjoy sweetness tempered by spice and woody depth. It will appeal especially to those drawn to honeyed vanilla and cocoa textures rather than sheer citrus or austere woods.
Release year
2009 (or 2010)
The nose
Enrico Buccella. For Alambar, he composed a tribute to amber, exploring its gourmand, floral, leathery and spicy facets. Bergamot provides contrast, while cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa give the central accord warmth and texture.
Laboratorio Olfattivo’s story
Laboratorio Olfattivo is an Italian house built around creative freedom for perfumers. Its fragrances begin with materials, memories and emotions rather than a prescribed commercial brief, while restrained bottles and packaging keep attention on the compositions themselves.
Alambar’s concept
Alambar was part of Laboratorio Olfattivo’s initial quartet, alongside Alkemi, Cozumel and Daimiris. Buccella’s inspiration was amber itself: the name grew from a sequence of amber-related words and spellings, and the composition explores the accord through spice, sweetness and woody warmth.
Extra info
Amber appears in every stage of the official note pyramid: alongside bergamot and cocoa at the top, cinnamon and vanilla in the heart, and on its own in the base. The fragrance also has a companion body lotion.
