Wisent - Wolf Brothers - Bloom Perfumery

The powerful and regal bison grazes in the vast open space of the Carpathian Mountains; at one with the wild and beautiful landscape. Hay, wild berries and grass transport us to the remote and wooded hills. The contrasting earthy leather and delicious vanilla  conjure the creatures thick fur and gentle heart.

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

Wisent suits the unhurried return indoors after hours on rough grassland: a heavy jacket over a chair, conversation at close quarters. Its leafy opening retains a sense of open space, while hay, leather and vanilla bring a warmer, more intimate register without losing their rugged edge.

How to wear

Try it in cool autumn weather, when dry hay, smoke and vanilla can feel warm without becoming heavy. Start with one or two sprays on skin beneath clothing to keep the animalic character close; use a lighter application in warm rooms, where its sweeter side may feel fuller.

Who it’s for

For those drawn to pastoral woods, dry grasses and animalic leather rather than polished sweetness. Wisent offers leafy fruit instead of a juicy fruit accord, with vanilla softening the rougher textures rather than defining the whole fragrance.

Release year

2020 (or 2021)

The nose

Valérie Bessone is the perfumer behind Wisent. Its composition translates the European bison into contrasting textures: leafy fruit and dry pasture against leathery, animalic warmth and soft vanilla.

Wolf Brothers’s story

Wolf Brothers builds its Wild Slavic Fragrances around Slavic heritage, forest wildlife and human instinct. Rather than treating a perfume as a catalogue of ingredients, the house uses animal portraits to express character and sensation, connecting the Polish landscape with the animal within.

Wisent’s concept

Wisent imagines a European bison grazing in the open landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains. Hay, berry leaves and woods evoke its surroundings, while earthy leather and animalic warmth suggest thick fur. Vanilla gives the powerful portrait a gentler side; the animal imagery describes the scent, not the origin of its ingredients.

Extra info

Wisent belonged to Wolf Brothers’ inaugural trio alongside Wolf and Bear; all three animal concepts first appeared as scented candles. The house’s name also has a personal origin: the founders’ surname, Wilk, means “wolf” in Polish.
