All about this fragrance

Vibe check

A deliberate presence for an evening spent in close conversation: green fruit gives the opening an unexpected edge, before leather and fleshy tuberose set a slower, more sensual register. The mood is composed rather than polite, with vanilla softening the severity without erasing it.

How to wear

Start with one or two sprays on skin, allowing the green opening to settle into the leather, tuberose and vanilla. Cool or mild weather is a natural setting for this voluptuous profile; in warmer conditions or close quarters, apply lightly so its richer facets do not dominate.

Who it’s for

For those drawn to old-school floral leathers, voluptuous tuberose and contrasts between green freshness and warm richness. It suits a taste for characterful compositions in which vanilla softens leather rather than turning the fragrance into a straightforward gourmand.

The nose

Jean Sauvage is Binet-Papillon’s exclusive, self-taught perfumer, working in creative dialogue with founder Virginie Choné. Credited with Cuir Grand Tigre, he brings together distinguished leather, green facets and voluptuous floral softness—a contrast that reflects the house’s appetite for unconventional accords.

Binet-Papillon’s story

Binet-Papillon favors individual expression over consensus, creating unusual accords intended to provoke emotion rather than please everyone. The house brings French perfumery heritage into a contemporary setting, with compositions developed and assembled in Grasse and a stated emphasis on natural materials and environmentally conscious production.

No. 6 – Cuir Grand Tigre’s concept

Launched as Grand Tigre under Papillon Rouge, the fragrance originally belonged to a butterfly-naming concept: Grand Tigre referred to a butterfly. Its current presentation instead foregrounds the tiger’s wild character through leather, green fruit, tuberose and vanilla. The later Binet-Papillon identity followed the coming together of Binet’s heritage and Papillon Rouge.

Extra info

Grand Tigre’s original name referred to a butterfly, despite the feline imagery used today. The fragrance first appeared under Papillon Rouge before joining Binet-Papillon. Published note pyramids differ, but those differences alone do not establish a reformulation.
