Important notice:

Zanini blends are living botanical compositions, crafted entirely from natural materials and free from synthetic fixatives or stabilizers. As with all things living, subtle variations are part of their nature: over time, you may notice a gentle evolution in colour, texture, or the appearance of natural sediment. These are not imperfections, but part of the character of the raw materials themselves.

These blends are olfactive smellscapes (but neither aromatherapy, nor ‘spray-and-go’ perfumes) and sensory experiences, closer to works of art created in the scented plane (rather than, say, visual or audio).

Certain essential oils and absolutes that are used in Zanini’s 100% natural blends may potentially cause allergies in some people. Please spray Zanini’s blends on fabric (on sleeves, scarves, etc.).

Zanini advise that those who are prone to allergic reactions, pregnant and nursing women, as well as people with chronic illnesses to be extra careful. Before trying natural blends, study the list of ingredients and consult with a doctor if you are not sure or a had a history of allergies. If you do decide to put these blends on your skin (unable to resist the temptation) always test the blend on the inside part of your elbow first and wait.

Do not spray these blends liberally as a cloud in the way you would spray a conventional perfume. Zanini’s smellscapes need to be… carefully applied and experienced. Be mindful that some oils can also make your skin hyper-sensitive to UV.

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

This belongs to the quiet after exposure to the elements: salt still on your clothes, warmth returning indoors, conversation kept close. Its burnt-wood bitterness and damp, animalic marine character suggest a tactile, unpolished presence rather than social brightness.

How to wear

Cool weather is a sensible starting point for this dense, smoky 58% extrait. Follow the house’s advice to apply sparingly to fabric rather than skin, testing a hidden area first for staining. Begin with one small application on a sleeve or scarf; avoid spraying a cloud, and let the scent unfold before adding more. Natural ingredients can still cause allergic reactions.

Who it’s for

For wearers drawn to natural oud, saline animalic accords and bitter, smoky textures rather than polished aquatic freshness. Its unconventional botanical palette will appeal to those who enjoy perfume as a demanding sensory study, with earthy and savoury facets left intact.

The nose

Filippo Zanini is the perfumer and fragrance-making cofounder of Zanini. His practice centres on natural materials, artisanal extraction and compositions conceived as olfactory landscapes rather than conventional accessories. In Fermo Pesca, marine-toned wild ouds, ambergris and coastal botanicals give that approach a particularly rugged expression.

Zanini’s story

Zanini treats perfume as an autonomous artistic experience, calling its creations “smellscapes” of real or imagined places. The house works exclusively with natural materials, artisanally processes much of its palette and hand-bottles its limited editions. Its approach favours emotional specificity over trends or universal appeal, accepting natural variation as part of each composition.

Fermo pesca’s concept

Fermo Pesca explores the meeting of oceanic depths and coastal sunlight. Indonesian ouds were selected for their salty, marine nuances, with ambergris extending the shoreline character and immortelle supplying a warmer counterpoint. Its imagery brings mineral steam, damp skin and extinguished beach fires into a single, deliberately untamed landscape.

Extra info

Fermo Pesca belongs to No Logo #2 and was offered as a 58% extrait in an edition of 40 bottles. Its unusual palette includes buckwheat, caper, agretti, onycha and okoumé. The official presentation opens with a passage from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
