Flight Mode - MINT - Bloom Perfumery

Perfumer: Kévin Mathys

In this perfume story, the smoky gaiac aroma is gliding across a fresh and boundless ozonic void.

The story is open to interpretation: you can smell the waterproof canvas of the parachute gear in the abstract clean woodiness of the formula; or the air from under the tarpaulin you pull off a glider in its hangar; or think of any scenario involving flying machinery and an unlimited supply of fresh air.

The perfumer wanted to achieve a hazy floating shadow of an aroma, evoking a sensation of endless dark blue space, the calm humming of an engine, and hints of gasoline or machine oil. A worthy heir to the grandpa of all hazy smoky formulas inspired by airplane wings: Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit.

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

Flight Mode suggests the quiet pause inside a hangar before departure: cool air around folded canvas, with a trace of smoke and softened leather. Its register is composed and slightly detached, the woody warmth keeping that sense of open space from feeling austere.

How to wear

Try it in mild or cooler weather, when the lavender-lime opening can contrast with the warmer rum, suede and vanilla. Start with one or two sprays on skin; a restrained application suits its hazy character, while warmth may draw the sweeter woody facets forward.

Who it’s for

For those drawn to airy woods and supple leather rather than dense smoke or heavy sweetness. It will appeal to wearers who enjoy lavender and citrus freshness with a more abstract, faintly mechanical character beneath it.

MINT’s story

M.INT treats fragrance as a trigger for emotion, imagination and lasting memories. Founded by Helen and Serge Mints, the house favours its own creative vision over trend-led formulas, building distinctive compositions around evocative ideas.

Flight Mode’s concept

Flight Mode takes its inspiration from the anticipation of travel and the moment an aircraft rises above the clouds. Its concept is about leaving routine behind and becoming receptive to unfamiliar surroundings, expressed through the contrast between airy freshness, soft suede and smoky woods.

Extra info

Flight Mode belongs to M.INT’s Blue line. Its name also refers to switching a smartphone into flight mode—a metaphor for disconnecting from everyday obligations and paying closer attention to the world around you.
