Frankincense. Bet you’re thinking dark, churchy dusty incense and smells of a dodgy pipe smoking priest’s frayed robes.
Fact is, frankincense can be fresh and fruity. Seriously.
What we do with this arcane and noble fragrance is close to a miracle. A true celebration of fun, fresh and fruit. You ‘eard. And not any creepy old clergy or a spooky gothic church in sight. Thank god.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Frånk suits an afternoon spent in animated conversation, its lemon-bright resin giving incense an unexpectedly light-hearted register. The green, woody character adds composure without solemnity: more open windows and quick laughter than hushed ritual.
How to wear
Try it in mild spring or autumn weather, when the lemon brightness and resinous depth can both find space. Start with one or two sprays on skin; add another only after assessing the effect. A restrained application should keep the clean, powdery character in balance with the frankincense and myrrh.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to incense but wary of smoky, austere interpretations. Its fruity brightness, green woods and softly powdery character also offer a route into resinous perfumery for wearers who usually prefer citrus-led scents.

The nose
Simon Constantine, founder of ånd fragrance, created Frånk. Formerly Lush’s head buyer and perfumer, he helped establish Gorilla Perfumes, developing an approach that connects expressive scents with the origins of their raw materials. Frånk reflects that sensibility: a familiar resin is reconsidered through its fresh, fruity qualities, with ingredient sourcing central to the story.
And Fragrance’s story
ånd combines irreverent perfumery with a stated commitment to ecological regeneration and social justice. Ingredient-producing communities are treated as partners, with sourcing woven into the creative identity of the house. Its deliberately playful voice challenges conventional luxury marketing; the brand describes its products as vegan and cruelty-free.
Frank’s concept
Frånk grew from Constantine’s visit to frankincense-growing communities in Somaliland, where encounters with freshly harvested resin offered a different perspective on incense. The composition brings frankincense together with lemon and myrrh, highlighting brightness and fruitiness rather than familiar church-like darkness. The sourcing story also connects the fragrance to efforts supporting tree nurseries and local livelihoods.
Extra info
The official name is spelled Frånk, echoing the å in ånd. It was one of the house’s five debut fragrances, alongside Båre, Beån, Måd and Sånd.
