The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:

  1. Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
  2. The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
  3. The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
  4. The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
  5. The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.

These blends are wild literally (made from wild flora) and also wild in terms of not complying with mass market regulations and fashion.

ILLA

The smellscape of Balearic Islands, celebrating the richness of their fascinating endemic flora. Like happens in many other islands, the isolation plays an important role. ILLA is, as far as we know, one of the only fragrances in the world with Hypericum Balearicum in it (locally called Estepa Joana). A plant that you can only find growing wild in Mallorca and that is distilled only by one man.
Along with the Estepa Joana (and to keep it company) Bravanariz weave into ILLA the aromas of wild myrtle, rosemary, thyme, pine, orange, neroli, lemon, fennel, pure virgin olive oil and rockroses.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not “a perfume”. It is an Olfactory Digression, and is blended by Bravanariz to be a different olfactory and sensory experience compared to “perfumes”. It does not comply with the IFRA standards, and for that reason is not recommended for topical (direct application to skin) use. Please spray on fabric (scarf, sleeve, etc.) to experience.
