A pile-up of contrasts: cinnamon along with tropical florals frangipani and ylang ylang, against the earthy bitterness of artichoke and leather. This almost-gingerbread, almost-cement perfume confuses the senses with its animal/vegetable/mineral mystery.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
For an afternoon that slips off schedule: conversation lingers, a coat stays draped over a chair, and there is no hurry to leave. Cinnamon and tropical flowers suggest warmth and pleasure, while bitter artichoke, leather and smoke keep the mood slightly unsettled rather than comfortably sweet.
How to wear
Start with one or two sprays on skin in mild or cool weather, giving the cinnamon, waxy florals and leather room to mingle without crowding the air. In warmer conditions or close quarters, use a lighter application; the vanilla and tropical floral facets may feel fuller in the heat.
Who it’s for
For wearers drawn to unusual floral-leather compositions and edible notes that stop short of straightforward gourmand sweetness. It suits a taste for bitter greenery, smoky textures and deliberately unresolved contrasts rather than a neatly familiar fragrance structure.

The nose
Markéta Maf is a writer, visual artist and perfumer based in Prague and New York. Initially self-taught in perfumery, she later trained in London and Grasse. Her work at Space Fluid brings fragrance, imagery and storytelling into a single artistic practice; Lovely Problem expresses that approach through unconventional materials and a fictional space romance.
Space Fluid’s story
Space Fluid treats perfume as an integrated artwork, with scent, visual presentation and narrative shaped by one creator. Historical perfumery traditions meet modern techniques, with an emphasis on realistic, sometimes unexpected smells. Predominantly natural materials are complemented by selected synthetic molecules in compositions intended to engage memory, emotion and contemplation.
Lovely Problem’s concept
Lovely Problem unfolds as a fictional romance aboard a spacecraft. A hidden lover and spilled perfume disrupt a lunar mission, sending it toward Venus instead. The accompanying poem turns fragrant materials and cake ingredients into narrative imagery, echoing the perfume’s collision of edible warmth, tropical flowers and earthy, mineral textures.
Extra info
The official composition includes artichoke, butter, cocoa, daisy and both white and blue lotus, presented as a single note list rather than a traditional pyramid. The standard 50 mL bottle carries a handwritten, burned inscription; a painted version is also offered. Packaging options include a paper box or a limited-edition antique military steel mirror box, and the house offers refilling.
