Malli Nadu - Nissaba - Bloom Perfumery

In India, flowers are sacred symbols and an essential part of daily life. “Malli Nadu” means “land of jasmine”, inspired by the paradise of perfume ingredients found in India. There’s jasmine sambac, cultivated in India since antiquity, with its radiant fruity/green sheen and animalic undertone. There’s tuberose, an opulent, powerful floral, along with davana, an aromatic plant unique to India with a profile that vibrates between apricot and herbaceous. Palmerosa oil supplies a geranium-like lift, while Indian vetiver and sandalwood deepens and softens the composition. Perfumer Ilias Ermenidis sought to translate the romance of India into this luminous scent, which he calls “a fragrance for lovers”

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

Think of the brightness of a freshly threaded jasmine garland, with something warmer beneath the petals. Malli Nadu suits an unhurried afternoon that turns intimate: its citrus and green-fruity accents keep the mood buoyant, while tuberose and sandalwood lend warmth to close conversation.

How to wear

The citrus-lit white flowers make this a natural choice for spring and mild summer weather. Start with one or two sprays on skin to keep the floral richness measured, especially in heat. Allow the bright opening to settle before adding more; the sandalwood and vetiver give the composition a softer, more grounded finish.

Who it’s for

For lovers of luminous jasmine and tuberose who prefer freshness to heavy powder. It will appeal to those who enjoy fruity-green floral nuances, softly woody bases and sensual white flowers without an overwhelmingly indolic character.

The nose

Ilias Ermenidis is a Greek-born perfumer at Firmenich whose wide-ranging work combines technical precision with an expressive approach to flowers and fruit. For Malli Nadu, he brought Indian jasmine, tuberose and aromatic materials into a modern white floral, balancing their richness with citrus brightness and soft woods.

Collaborators

Nissaba founder Sébastien Tissot helped shape the regional ingredient brief, working with Ilias Ermenidis to bring Tamil Nadu’s white flowers and aromatic materials into a coherent composition. He described the development as a roughly two-year process, with a modern tuberose structure providing the solution.

Nissaba’s story

Nissaba builds fragrances around the natural materials of a particular place, giving perfumers an origin-led brief rather than a predefined gender or fragrance family. Its identity connects fine perfumery with agricultural expertise, supported by a stated commitment to direct 5% of sales toward agricultural projects and a packaging system designed for reuse.

Malli Nadu’s concept

Malli Nadu draws on Tamil Nadu’s flower markets, jasmine garlands, religious offerings and wedding traditions. Its name evokes the land of jasmine sambac. Ermenidis translated that floral landscape into a bright tuberose-and-jasmine composition, using davana, vetiver and sandalwood to express the region beyond its white flowers.

Extra info

Malli Nadu was introduced as Nissaba’s seventh fragrance. Its formula contains more than 90% natural-origin content and organic French wheat alcohol, alongside the floral molecule Paradisone®. The name’s “malli” refers to jasmine sambac buds.
