Pine! It’s soooooo pine. Camp fire smoke and fresh cold air combine in a fragrance both bracing and comforting.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
The register is outdoorsy and quietly companionable: returning from a cold forest walk with the impression of needles and woodsmoke still around you. Its bracing pine keeps the mood alert, while the campfire warmth suits an unhurried evening spent at close quarters.
How to wear
Cool autumn and winter weather is a natural setting for the contrast between pine freshness and smoke. Start with one or two sprays on skin, allowing the woody warmth to settle before adding more. A restrained application keeps the campfire impression personal, especially indoors.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to coniferous woods, smoky textures and fragrances that evoke a recognisable place rather than a conventional perfume accord. Its single-subject approach will appeal to anyone who prefers a direct forest impression to an elaborate floral or gourmand composition.
Release year
2024
The nose
Tomas Hempel.
Stora Skuggan’s story
Stora Skuggan treats perfume, artwork and packaging as one creative practice, developed in its Stockholm studio. Its in-house approach embraces both natural and synthetic materials, chosen for their expressive possibilities rather than an all-natural ideal. PINE channels that independence into an unusually direct, single-subject composition.
PINE’s concept
PINE departs from Stora Skuggan’s usual myth-led concepts by taking a tree as its entire subject. The composition explores the impression of fresh shoots, sweet sap, dry bark and fallen needles, rather than presenting pine as an isolated ingredient. Its deliberately literal premise leaves the forest itself to supply the imagery.
Extra info
PINE was an Artisan-category finalist at the 2025 Art and Olfaction Awards. Although its advertised note list repeats only pine, the effect is constructed from numerous ingredients rather than a single raw material. It was introduced as Stora Skuggan’s eighth perfume.
