All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Imagine stepping from a stone church into the afternoon light of the Barossa, with the next tasting still ahead. Incense and rich woods carry the reflective mood outside; rose and a fresh edge keep it from becoming austere. The register is composed, tactile and quietly irreverent.
How to wear
Start with one or two sprays on the torso or wrists, keeping the rich incense and woods measured at close range. Mild to cool weather is a natural setting for its balsamic character; in warmer conditions, apply more lightly so the resinous weight does not overwhelm the fresher facets.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to incense, balsamic woods and rose woven into a woody structure rather than presented as a floral centerpiece. It suits a taste for aromatic depth, Australian botanicals and sacred-scent imagery tempered by wit.

The nose
Craig Andrade is the founder and perfumer of The Raconteur. After a career in private equity and capital-markets law, he trained at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery and studied natural perfumery with Mandy Aftel. His work translates places, people and cultural observations into fragrances, with Australian botanicals central to the house’s identity. Religious Guilt Spritz brings that approach to the churches and vineyards of the Barossa Valley.
Raconteur’s story
The Raconteur is an Australian, story-led perfume house that translates people, places, culture and ideas into scent. Australian native botanical extracts give its narratives a local vocabulary, while gender-neutral compositions are conceived, formulated and hand-poured in Australia.
Religious Guilt Spritz’s concept
The idea began during Andrade’s visit to the Barossa Valley, where wine tasting was repeatedly interrupted by the sight of church steeples. That contrast between indulgence and religious restraint became the fragrance’s central tension. Exploring materials associated with sacred rituals, he sought to evoke worship, celebration and reflection while approaching release from guilt with humor rather than solemnity.
Extra info
The brand identifies buddawood and sandalwood among the fragrance’s Australian botanicals. Its official notes are presented as one combined list rather than a top, heart and base pyramid. It launched alongside Dirty Gold Digger and Cloud 9 Juice, a trio Andrade said he had spent nearly two years developing.
