Rituale
With each perfume formula Mendittorosa interpret and reference some profound metaphysical notion. In Rituale it’s rituals from the most ancient times, humanity trying to please the gods, destiny and bringing order into chaos.
Rituale is a generous offering of golden narcissuses (heady and honeyed), precious sandalwood and fruits, a ritual of fragrant rhythm and harmony.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Rituale suits the quiet concentration of getting dressed before an important meeting: a familiar gesture given extra weight. Honeyed narcissus and waxy warmth create an intimate register, while the leathery undertone lends composure rather than overt sweetness.
How to wear
Start with one or two sprays on skin and let the extrait settle before adding more. Cooler weather suits its honeyed flowers, beeswax and amber warmth; in warmer conditions, use a lighter application to keep the rich floral-animalic character from dominating close quarters.
Who it’s for
For lovers of vintage-style florals with waxy, leathery and animalic depth. Rituale will appeal to those who enjoy narcissus, textured sweetness and a warm woody base rather than sheer petals or straightforward fruity freshness.
Release year
2017
The nose
Amélie Bourgeois is a French independent perfumer and co-founder of the Parisian fragrance studio Flair. Her work often explores contrasts between familiar materials and unexpected textures, with an expressive approach to niche perfumery. For Rituale, she translated Stefania Squeglia’s imagery of ancient rituals and golden nectar into an enveloping composition centered on narcissus.
Collaborators
Mendittorosa founder Stefania Squeglia developed Rituale’s concept and creative design. She gave Amélie Bourgeois a brief drawing on ancient rituals, myths and religious symbols, seeking a comforting fragrance that could accompany the wearer’s own daily rituals.
Mendittorosa’s story
Mendittorosa treats perfume as an expression of inner life rather than a response to trends. Rooted in Stefania Squeglia’s connection to Stromboli, the house combines independent creative research with Italian craftsmanship, choosing perfumers to interpret its visions and treating each bottle and its presentation as part of the artwork.
Rituale’s concept
Rituale grew from the idea of ritual as a way to bring order to chaos. Ancient offerings, perpetual sunrise and golden nectar shaped a narcissus-centered fragrance conceived as a personal sanctuary. It appeared alongside Archetipo in Time Without Time, within Mendittorosa’s Odori d’Anima collection.
Extra info
Italian artist Mauro Carrazza individually hand-makes Rituale’s twisted sculptural cap, whose knots, roots and nest-like forms evoke order emerging from chaos. The fragrance is not vegan: its composition includes beeswax and Pierre d’Afrique, also known as hyraceum.
