All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Still Life suits the moment when a quiet gathering becomes animated: a drink freshly poured, conversation quickening, everyone leaning closer. Yuzu and pepper give that energy a tart, sparkling edge, while rum and woods keep the mood warm rather than briskly formal.
How to wear
Try it in mild spring weather or on a warm evening, when the citrus-pepper contrast feels especially apt. Begin with one or two sprays on skin; a light application favours the bright opening without overplaying the warmer rum-and-wood base. In hotter weather, keep the dose restrained.
Who it’s for
For those who enjoy citrus with bite rather than sweetness, and woods with warmth rather than heaviness. Its peppery yuzu and dark-rum contrast will appeal to wearers drawn to lively, cocktail-like compositions that retain a dry, textured edge.

The nose
Dora Baghriche, credited in early launch coverage as Dora Arnaud, composed Still Life. Her work often explores unexpected contrasts between luminous freshness and warmer, textured accords; she is also a co-creator of Yves Saint Laurent’s Mon Paris. For Still Life, her affection for Japan informed the choice of yuzu, whose sharp brightness anchors the composition’s peppery, rum-inflected character.
Collaborators
Founder and creative director Céline Verleure shaped the photographic brief, bringing together an image and a perfumer’s emotional interpretation. Photographer Frédéric Lebain supplied Still Life’s inspiration image: photographic prints of mirrored disco balls surrounded by confetti, giving Baghriche a visual starting point for the fragrance’s festive contrasts.
Olfactive Studio’s story
Olfactive Studio creates a dialogue between contemporary photography and perfumery, treating both as ways to preserve a moment and awaken memory. Photographs become creative prompts rather than literal subjects, leaving perfumers room to interpret their emotional atmosphere. The house presents its fragrances without gender boundaries.
Still Life’s concept
One of Olfactive Studio’s three debut fragrances in 2011, Still Life translates Frédéric Lebain’s disco-ball-and-confetti image into a contrast of sparkle and warmth. Baghriche’s interest in Japan brought yuzu into the composition, while peppers, dark rum and woods turn the photographic celebration into an olfactory one.
Extra info
The inspiration image is a photograph containing photographs: three prints of mirrored disco balls arranged with confetti. Still Life is distinct from Still Life in Rio, the later fragrance also composed by Dora Baghriche.
