Perfumer: Miroslav Petkov
A bestial intense animalic amber serving the visceral image of a wild stallion. Patchouli and labdanum harmonise to a rich decadent leather while hits of oriental osmanthus add to the floral sweetness which in turn is balanced by spicy cypriol and vetiver. Stunning and magnificent.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
STYRAX suits the moment when outdoor exertion gives way to stillness: a worn leather jacket kept on as conversation draws closer. Its animalic amber retains a sense of physical heat, while osmanthus softens the rugged leather without making it delicate.
How to wear
Start with one or two sprays on skin, allowing the rich leather and animalic amber room to unfold. Cool autumn and winter weather is a natural fit for this dense profile; in warmer conditions or close indoor settings, use a lighter application to keep its warmth measured.
Who it’s for
For lovers of animalic amber, resinous depth and leather that feels worn rather than polished. It will appeal to those who enjoy patchouli and labdanum with a fruity-floral counterpoint, and who prefer a visceral, textured fragrance to crisp freshness or straightforward sweetness.

The nose
Miroslav Petkov composed STYRAX, translating its equestrian brief into an intense leathery, animalic amber. His composition brings together the richness of labdanum and patchouli, the fruity-floral sweetness of osmanthus, and the spicy, woody accents of cypriol and vetiver.
Headspace’s story
HEADSPACE connects perfumery with the capture of fleeting sensations. Its name links the imagination to headspace analysis, a technique for studying the scent surrounding objects and living things. Natural and synthetic materials work together to reconstruct these impressions, with each perfume named after an emblematic raw material rather than confined to its literal smell.
STYRAX’s concept
Part of HEADSPACE’s inaugural collection, STYRAX takes its inspiration from a galloping stallion and the bond between horse and rider. Its central image is a leather saddle warmed by the horse’s body: labdanum and amber supply the heat, leathery styrax shapes the texture, and apricot-like osmanthus lends a softer counterpoint.
Extra info
The bottle was designed by Jules Dinand to evoke a perfumer’s laboratory vial, with a minimalist paper label and black Bakelite cap. Despite its raw-material name, STYRAX is built around an equestrian scent impression rather than a literal study of resin alone.
