Tantrico
Perfumer: Lucien Ferrero
«What is more noble for a perfumer than Sandal attar? Without doubt it is the most precious essential oil in the history of perfumery, with a refined elegance, an unparalleled sensuality and an intimacy that I invite you to try.»
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
An unhurried conversation at close quarters, with the sleeves of a crisp cotton shirt pushed back. Juniper and cypress give the opening an alert, composed quality; the softer sandalwood suits the moment when the pace slows and attention becomes more personal.
How to wear
Try it in mild spring or autumn weather, when the aromatic opening and velvety woods can share the foreground. Start with one or two sprays on the upper chest or forearms for a restrained presence. In warmer conditions, keep the application light to preserve the intimate effect intended by the composition.
Who it’s for
For those who enjoy sandalwood softened by musk but sharpened with aromatic greenery. It suits a preference for understated woody fragrances with crisp juniper, dry cedar and a sensual texture, rather than overt sweetness or dense spice.

The nose
Lucien Ferrero is a French master perfumer whose work combines classical structure with a sensitive treatment of natural materials. His compositions often give woods and aromatic ingredients a clear, expressive role. For Laboratorio Olfattivo’s Masters’ Collection, he created both Tantrico and Vetyverso, exploring sandalwood and vetiver respectively. In Tantrico, Ferrero places sandalwood’s velvety texture at the centre, using aromatic freshness to frame its sensuality rather than overwhelm it.
Collaborators
Roberto Drago, Laboratorio Olfattivo’s creative director, helped shape the project by identifying olfactory themes missing from the house’s collection. He gave Ferrero creative freedom to explore sandalwood, establishing the direction that became Tantrico rather than prescribing a detailed formula brief.
Laboratorio Olfattivo’s story
Laboratorio Olfattivo treats perfume as a space for independent creative expression. Founded by Daniela Caon and Roberto Drago, the house gives perfumers room to translate memories, journeys and emotions into compositions, while restrained packaging keeps the focus on the fragrance and its materials.
Tantrico’s concept
Tantrico grew from the Masters’ Collection project following Roberto Drago’s meeting with Lucien Ferrero and Jean-Claude Ellena at Turin’s Per Fumum cultural event. Ferrero’s sandalwood composition explores the meeting of spirituality and sensuality: a velvety woody centre animated by sage, juniper and cypress, conceived to retain an intimate presence on skin.
Extra info
Ferrero’s introductory text invokes sandalwood attar, but Tantrico is an Eau de Parfum, not an attar-format oil. It belongs to the original four-fragrance Masters’ Collection alongside Vetyverso, Baliflora and Tuberosis.
