Matilde Bonaparte, niece of Napoleon I, was known for her breasts (“le plus beau décolleté”) and her talent as a painter. She also hosted a celebrated 19th-century Parisian salon attended by the greatest artists and writers of her time. This namesake perfume is an olfactory salon of provocative white florals (ylang-ylang, narcissus, jasmine) given tropical succulence with passion fruit and papaya. Mathilde’s heady brightness is softened by iris and sandalwood.

This “divine flower” is a luminous, untamed floral that captures the serenity of nature in motion. It starts bright and light: lemongrass and passion fruit, opening up to peony and lily of the valley. Hélène Napoleone was the daughter of Napoleon’s last lover, Albine de Montholon, and although it was never confirmed if the now-exiled Emperor was indeed her father, he did give her his name, so…? Her namesake fragrance is a vivacious bouquet of fruits and florals, headlined by sparkling pear and creamy magnolia. The charm deepens with the amber base, warmed by sandalwood and patchouli.

It’s a delectable amber with focus on the gourmand aspect of that ancient perfume recipe. Usually, an amber mix would require a resin (labdanum, benzoin, etc.), patchouli and vanilla. In Beso Canalla this sweet component often represented and highlighted by vanilla was extended to many dimensions. It starts with gently sweet bergamot, descends into caramelized a sugar accord in the heart and dries down into a sweet sandalwood and amber amalgamation.

In the Beso perfume trilogy this formula represents the relaxed afternoon when you have had your early morning swim and are now gathering energies for the night out ahead (chilling in the sweet shade with an ice cold orangeade, feet buried in warm sand).

Lively and full of contrasts, Dancing Light is a reflection of the northern lights that inspired it. Icy mint and Siberian pine needles bring a breath of coolness. Then a bouquet of bright white flowers with jasmine, neroli and seringa, dances in the heart warmed by the sandalwood.

If we were to believe Marco Polo’s story - Alamut was the fortress and headquarters of the order of assassins. In Alamut among other things, according to Marco, the new recruits could experience the demo version of heaven. An assassin to be would be inebriates by some potion (even though Marco never mention which drug it was, highly likely it was hashish). Then the recruit would be taken to a pleasure garden with drinks, food and beautiful maiden. Afterwards the head of the order would explain that absolute loyalty and fearless determination would guarantee an afterlife of this kind.
