Vetyverso
Perfumer: Lucien Ferrero
«From every trip, I have always brought back an olfactory memory of the places visited. From a trip to the Antilles, I can recall the memory of their olfactory power: on the slopes of the volcanoes grow the roots of Vetiver, with its virile and woody notes. Here the mornings shine with the freshness of citrus fruits and, little by little, the air vibrates with noble and precious spicy scents. It was from these first memories that I built Vetyverso: a fragrance with a decisive and intriguing trail».
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
An early appointment after walking through rain-darkened streets: grapefruit brings a brisk opening, while earthy vetiver and pepper give the impression of composure without stiffness. Its register is alert and grounded, with enough spice to keep the woody character from feeling austere.
How to wear
Try it in mild spring or autumn weather, when the citrus and earthy woods can sit in balance. Start with one or two sprays on the neck or forearms; warm skin should bring the pepper and aromatic facets forward. In hotter weather, apply lightly to preserve the brightness without overemphasising the spice.
Who it’s for
For those who favour rooty, green woods over sweet or creamy fragrances. Its bitter citrus, pepper and clary sage will appeal to lovers of aromatic vetiver who want brightness at the opening and a more textured, earthy character beneath.

The nose
Lucien Ferrero is a veteran French perfumer whose work combines classical craftsmanship with an expressive use of natural materials. His compositions for Laboratorio Olfattivo include Vetyverso and the sandalwood-focused Tantrico, both part of the Masters’ Collection. For Vetyverso, he translated memories of the Antilles into a contrast between bright citrus, woody roots and warm spices.
Collaborators
Roberto Drago, Laboratorio Olfattivo’s artistic director, helped establish the creative direction by identifying the collection’s need for a dedicated vetiver fragrance. Rather than imposing a tightly prescribed brief, he gave Ferrero room to develop the subject through his own travel memories.
Laboratorio Olfattivo’s story
Founded by Daniela Caon and Roberto Drago, Laboratorio Olfattivo treats perfume as a medium for memories, journeys and emotions. Its identity rests on giving perfumers creative freedom under Drago’s artistic direction, with restrained packaging that keeps attention on the composition rather than elaborate presentation.
Vetyverso’s concept
Vetyverso grew from Ferrero’s memories of the Antilles: vetiver roots on volcanic slopes, citrus-bright mornings and air gradually filled with spice. These impressions gave a personal direction to the house’s wish for a vetiver fragrance, resulting in a composition that moves from brightness toward earthy, spicy depth.
Extra info
Vetyverso joined Tantrico as Lucien Ferrero’s contribution to the original four-fragrance Masters’ Collection. Ferrero described its humid, earthy character as a “patchouli effect,” although patchouli does not appear in the official note pyramid.
