This pack was curated to examine the small but varied group of perfume materials sourced from roots and underground stems. The selection centres on fragrances with a distinct root note, taking orris and vetiver as key reference points while opening the edit to materials such as angelica, ginger, calamus and asafoetida. The idea was to show that what grows beneath the ground need not smell simply of earth: it can bring spice, greenness, musk and woody or leathery depth.
